John Cockram, Pirate Fence
John Cockram was with Benjamin Hornigold and the first group of pirates to operate out of Nassau in 1713, but soon began a trading business taking the pirate’s haul to other islands. In March, 1714 he married the daughter of another trader, Richard Thompson from Eluthera and the two of them set up a lucrative business on Harbour Island selling the pirate’s booty to legitimate markets in the American colonies.
